Felicitation For Dr. P Trimurthy
Dr. P. Thrimurthy, a Ph.D holder in Theory of Numbers from Gujarat University, was one of the founding fathers of computer education in India. He has been the pioneer in initiating computer courses and inter-disciplinary courses in various colleges and schools in this part of the country. He Served Armed Forces Head Quarters (Indian Army) Delhi (1977-79), Gujarat University 1979-1980), Sardar Patel University (1981-1994) & Acharya Nagarjuna University (1994-2009).
He rendered his services to ISTE, New Delhi in updating syllabus of Computer Science degree courses and to UGC in various capacities on several national level committees. AICTE was also benefited by the services of Dr. P. Thrimurthy in standardization of the MCA syllabi. He rendered his services to AICTE in various screening committees, in initiating computer courses in various parts of the country.As one of his major contributions in the applications of Information Technology for the social uplift, he transferred his research software product on improving literacy rate in the country by signing a MoU with the Government of India on “Transfer of Technology Agreement”. Prof. Thrimurthy has contributed in non-formal computer education in India through the Government of India in DOEACC programmes in forming syllabi, examinations and in management of “O”, “A”, “B” and “C” level courses in the country.
He was elected as the President of Computer Society of India in the year 2010-11. Where he strengthened the existing systems & infrastructure, steered to establish a corporate office for CSI in Andheri, Mumbai with the support of CSI family. Incepted many new initiatives including, forming the Presidents Council, state level student coordinators, Newsletter for students & budding professionals. Increased the Industry-Academic-Government Interactions. CSI Conferred “FELLOW” on Professor Thrimurthy for his contributions to the Society.
Dr. P. Thrimurthy has been the Indian representative in education and training group of South East Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC). He has brought this institution to the International level with his participation in the academic and professional meets at Manila, Hongkong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Karachi.
The Government of Gujarat also utilized his services in computerization and different decision-making bodies on computer courses.
Prof. Thrimurthy has produced Sixteen Ph.D. Holders in Computer Science. Author of four books and more than 50 research papers in computer science. Member of Editorial boards of FIVE international Journals. Promoted research as Chairman of Programme Committee for over 30 National & 10 International Seminars. Coordinated several Teacher Training Programmes.
He had been Indian Chaperon for International Software Competitions held in 8 countries. Extended services as Chairman of International Software Competitions held in three countries. He is a Winner of National Computer Education award by NACET (2000), Co-winner of National e-Governance award on RAJiV: e-Village (2004). Prof. Thrimurthy Pioneered the development of e-learning software for Adult Literacy (1988). Transferred technology on Punjabi & Hindi to Govt. of India. He has also obtained Copyright on his software tools (L-18158/99).
